2024 Mini Countryman Review
I recently had the pleasure of unveiling the latest addition to the Mini family – the new Mini Countryman. Read on to find out my initial impressions of this family-sized, Qashqai rivaling crossover.
This particular model, the Countryman C, boasts a starting price of approximately £28,500. It's equipped with a petrol mild hybrid engine that delivers ample power for your driving needs. Although my review sample was loaded with nearly £11,000 worth of optional features, it's important to note the generosity of standard trim in this model.
While the John Cooper Works version is also available for those seeking a more spirited ride, let's delve into why the Countryman C might just be the perfect fit for many drivers. Under the bonnet lies a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with hybrid technology, offering 168 brake horsepower, 280 Newton meters of torque, and a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 8.3 seconds.
The exterior Design has undergone some big changes yet still feels like evolution rather than revolution, it still looks unmistakenly like a Mini and retains that all-important character but deep down we find ourselves with a larger with a more stylish design than was offered by its predecessor. unmistakenly
Interior
Stepping into the cabin, one is immediately struck by its exceptional design and functionality. The centerpiece of the interior is the impressive OLED display – a first of its kind in the automotive world. Boasting vibrant colors and remarkable responsiveness, it adds a futuristic touch to the driving experience. The design team has truly outdone themselves, incorporating subtle yet captivating elements that enhance the overall appeal of the car.
Mini has paid meticulous attention to sound design, offering various experiences that cater to different preferences, from the nostalgic "Timeless" to the indulgent "Personal" mode complete with a gentle massage feature. Customizable brake lights add a playful element, showcasing Mini's commitment to every detail of user experience.
The infotainment system housed within the OLED screen is intuitive and feature-rich, complemented by a convenient head-up display that provides essential information at a glance. The choice of materials throughout the cabin is impeccable, with unique finishes and textures that elevate the overall ambiance.
In the rear, passengers are treated to ample space and luxurious appointments, making every journey a comfortable affair. The boot space has been expanded compared to its predecessor, offering 460 liters of cargo capacity along with practical features like under-floor storage.
Test Drive
Now, onto the driving experience – a true highlight of the Mini Countryman. Whether navigating winding roads or cruising on the highway, this vehicle excels in both comfort and performance. With precise steering and agile handling, it strikes the perfect balance between sportiness and comfort.
While the automatic gearbox is superb, there's a minor hesitation upon initial acceleration, but this is the only minor gripe from what is otherwise a real driving pleasure.
It’s rare to find a car of this size (not huge but not a traditional “Mini”) that delivers so many simles behind the wheel. The engineers have done a sterling job with this one.
Summary
Surpassing expectations, the Countryman delivers not only as a family-friendly SUV but also as an engaging drivers car.
The Mini Countryman embodies everything the Mini brand stands for – fun, engaging, and full of character. Its blend of practicality and excitement makes it a compelling choice in its segment. If you're in the market for a vehicle that's as enjoyable as it is versatile, I highly recommend scheduling a test drive.
